Des Moines Downtown Farmer's Market

I had a blast playing at the Des Moines Downtown Farmer’s Market for the first time! It was hot, but there was a great crowd stopping to listen and passing by! Since it was so hot and I didn’t have access to electricity, I used my battery powered Fischer amp to power my Yamaha electric violin. I think my electric violin has a very similar sound and look of a non-electric violin, and in fact, I made my recordings with my electric violin! Can you tell? it was fun to show the kids that stopped to listen that the violin is missing half of its body :).

Some crowd favorites included “Shallow”, “Take Me Home” by John Denver, and “Hallelujah” by Cohen. I even had a few requests, including “Perfect” by Ed Sheehan. I love playing “Take Me Home” during the Welcome Music of a wedding ceremony, and of course “Hallelujah” is great for the seating of grandparents or parents, and “Perfect” works nicely for a processional song. It was fun to play those songs for a different crowd and in a different context!

I play at the Farmer’s Market again on September 28th, and I can’t wait!

Farmer’s Market!
